Yowsaku Sekino (1944 - ) Born in Suginami-ku, and graduated from Chuo University in 1968. After working in an office for a few years, he began to study woodblock printing from his father, Junichiro Sekino. Yowsaku eventually expands on the technique of using gold and platinum leaf by applying watercolor inks onto the delicate metal – a skill very few have accomplished. Sekino carves at least 10 woodblocks for each printed image. His artwork is collected by the Portland Art Museum.
